Eastman, GA – AMD, makers
of the popular factory-built Zodiac Light Sport Aircraft (LSA),
has just announced that certification of the Zodiac S-LSA for
IFR flying is now complete.

The new IFR-equipped model will be designated the Zodiac
XLi. Installed equipment exceeds FAR 91.205 requirements
and includes features such as the standard “6 pack”
instruments (including TSO gyros), heated pitot, alternate
static, lightning protection (as required by FAR 23.867, 23.954
etc.), back-up electric system, de-icing window, strobes,
navigation, taxi and landing lights, and much more. The
Continental 0-200 engine used in the Zodiac XLi is FAA
certified under part 33, allowing IFR operations. Availability
of this increased capability aircraft is immediate.
The standard US-made AMD Zodiac was already approved for night
flying, the new XLi now gives instrument-rated private
pilot the option of flying this remarkably diverse aircraft into
IFR conditions. Flying schools using the Zodiac XLi will
be able to offer night and IFR dual with this aircraft. Cost of
the Zodiac Xli, including the above mentioned equipment,
starts at $99,900.00 USD.
